The New Yorker Magazine just ran an article about how Joan Taub Ades, a benefactor for Manhattan School of Music started Joan's Closet. This program pairs student performers of all disciplines at the conservatory with appropriate designer concert attire. What an incredible idea. Although this current program is not available to men, we thought that this is something worth considering for other communities other than just the Manhattan School of Music crowd. Why not open up something for all of the singers auditioning in New York? Do you have an incredible gown you are not using and is just sitting in your closet? Could you loan it out for a day or two for an audition? Wouldn't it be great if we could create an online closet to share and swap? Not everyone can afford an expensive gown and it is a shame to have something you just wear once or twice a year. If you have a gown you would like to share or are looking for something different to wear for an event or concert please send us an email at and we will post a picture of your dress or shoes and when they are available. This is open only to singers. We know how to verify who is a singer and who isn't. :). Let us know if this is something you are interested in! We could start a whole online closet!
