NYCO Renaissance Ltd. is mounting a gala tribute concert for Maestro Julius Rudel honoring his career at the now bankrupt New York City Opera. He died on June 26th 2014. The gala honoring the great Maestro will be on Monday, March 9th 2015 at the Frederick P. Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center in the Time Warner Center.

The all star gala will feature: Plácido Domingo
Frederica von Stade
David Daniels
Mark Delavan
Christine Goerke
James Morris
Diana Soviero
and Sting.

The Gala sounds great, but we would love to bump it up a notch! Would love a bigger range of performers to stir up some real support to benefit the NYCO Renaissance Ltd. The more out of the ordinary the better.

Here's who Opera Candy would love to see perform at this Gala !

Stephen Colbert-He loves opera and sang with Plácido Domingo. He's reinventing himself too!

Zucchero-He would be a great addition to this event as someone who's music is so heavily influenced by opera.

Zeffin Quinn Hollis-Opera Singer who sang the Jaden Smith Tweets on Youtube.

Brian Asawa-If David Daniels is singing, I want to see the world's most famous countertenors duke it out! Oh and he's just so much fun to watch!

Billy Joel-A real New Yorker who understands the need for a vibrant New York Musical Culture. Maybe the New New York City Opera could perform his new opera!

Idina Menzel-A broadway star who sings the heck out of anything with a full orchestra. Idina Menzel's support would really attract a younger crowd.
